The armored train was used for a scenario game, the Germans had to get it off the battlefield whilst the Russians attacked it.

The Russian sniper team destroyed the tracks so the train couldn’t escape.

Ski troops even came in to help take out the train.

We also hard Dark Elves taking on Beastmen.

The Beastmen army had a fantastic conversion of a Cygor.

The third and final game of Warhammer that night was Dwarfs against Orcs & Goblins, here a group of Squigs and a pump wagon charge a unit of Thunderers.

There was also a game of Warhammer 40K with Nurgle Chaos Space Marines taking on Tyranids.

Force on Force, Ambush alleys reasonably new modern warfare game has been having a run out recently and has been getting quite a lot of interest.

This game was a infantry only skirmish but there are rules for vehicles too, including helicopters.

Many players at the club play warhammer and Wahammer 40k, here Dereks Skaven take on Neil’s Tomb Kings who have recently had a new book. Derek’s rat ogre bonebreaker is a great conversion.

A few of us play Wyrd Miniatures’ Malifaux skirmish game, the other week we had a 3 player free-for-all featuring The Dreamer, Pandora and Sonja Criid.

There is nearly always a world war 2 game being played at the club here are some from a recent Flames of War game.

And for those who like a larger scale game the club have their own 20mm rule adapted from Peter Guilder’s ruleset.

But we didn’t stop there! Graham and Steve had a set to with thier 15mm Ancients using FoG. Imperial Rome Vs palmeria

Grahams Eastern warriors don’t like the look of this, and his Elephants flee!

And Lastly james has yet another 40K Apocalypse game with his truely huge Ultramarines force Vs some hapless Eldar.

And all on his new terrain. This was a 10k per side game.

But it is an excuse to bring out the big Forgeworld goodness!

 The lads cetainly seem to be having a great game.

Another system we play off and on is the Rate of Fire WWII skirmish rules from Crusader. The AFV came out at the end of last year, but we have only now managed to get a game in.

 Terry advances the US Infantry with a Sherman in Support.

 A nice system, and we are happy with how the tanks have been integrated into what is essentially an infantry skirmish game. We will probably see more of this system in the coming months.

Some of the Massed Cog Opposition – Dave brought a better balanced army and ran out an easy winner, it was an interesting experiment and it would be nice to try Daves idea of a multiplayer game.

We also had a couple of other WHFB games. Here Mike ponders where to send his High elves.

On another table the dwarves get stuck into some imperial artillery.

We cover a wide range of Wargames Periods and have a number of role-playing groups that are actively recruiting players. we meet at the North end Club Bedford on Mondays from 7:30 till 11:00 and also on the Second Sunday of the Month from 12:00 till 11:00

Dereks Empire Knights advance on Daves…

Empire!  A bit of a practice game for dave with Warhammer 8th Edition. Same faction battles can be good fun. And it was a race to see if Dereks Cannon could beat Dave’s Steam tank into chewing up the opposition first,a full on carnage later and dave’s decimated troops were slightly less decimated than Derek’s Flagellants. A great game.

 Flames of War was also in evidence, but this time more odd pairings with US vs UK clash…obviously a training exercise before pitting themselves against the hun!

The Boardgame Tanhauser, using the new variant rules, great fun, and a great improvement on version 1, simpler smoother mechanics, with easy to remember abilities for each of the characters

And Graham and myself had our traditional Xmas game in my Gaming room. Chinese/Mongols vs Samurai using FoG.

We also have some more new faces at our door, keen to see what being in the Gladiators is all about, I hope they found us to be the kind of group they they can find a home for thier gaming needs.And make some good friends into the bargain. Welcome all.

  Elsewhere, Tom’s Chaos  army emerge to cause , well…chaos in a game of 40K…………… And more 40K in another part of the room, yes Ultramarines…isn’t there a film out about these chaps?!?

 There is an All Day meeting this coming Sunday ( 12th December) so hopefully lots of great pics of the action on our last all day meet of 2010…stay, erm!! tuned!

 This new event seemed to go well, with a good selection of traders,including Miniature Wargames. Our own demo team was the sole club, displaying our Elven Civil War game, as played at Colours 09. The upper floor was dedicated to tournament play, with Magic the gathering, Yu Gi Oh, Warmachine, Warhammer, FoW,40K and the UK national AT43 tournaments.

 Our club had two entrants in the AT43 competition, showing our support of an excellant system despite, Rackham Entertainment recently going into liquidation. Indeed the tournament organisers recieved the prizes with in only days of the announcement of Rackham ceasing trading.

 Dave Wilkin’s first game with his Cogs up against Tom Boddicoats Karman force. A crushing defeat for Dave,by the eventual Champion, indeed the Vandal (seen in foreground) was captured by Tom and used to devestating effect against it’s former owner!

 Our other player, Maurice in his first game using his Red Bloc against a young UNA player. There were a few youngsters in the tournament, and they seemed very knowledgeable on the system,and all involved had a great time. We hope some enterprizing company takeds up the IP and continues what is a great system, with inovative game play. It is doubly sad as a few of the people here were about to engage in the beta testing of the second edition of the rules for AT43, which could have given new vigour to the game .

As for Games Con Leicester  http://www.gamescon-leicester.co.uk/  the event seemed to go well, and we hope it goes to a second year with more support from the wider gaming public. Thanks to Zoe and Floris for a great fun day out.
